Transfers to the resort and back...

An Air Canada Vacations or our ground representative will meet your flight and assist you with ground transportation once you have gone through immigration and customs. Please be aware that in the Customs area you are likely to be approached by people who are selling Time Share. Please proceed directly outside where your Air Canada Vacations Representatives are waiting.

Time-share sales persons can be found in most airports and can be aggressive at times. They will often offer 'free' excursions and day trips in exchange for your attendance at their 'brief' presentations. Be careful as many of these presentations turn into full day events with several associates making sales pitches to you. Please also be aware the time-share sales persons may also be found at many hotels and on the streets. If you are not interested, politely say no and walk away. Please be aware that talking to them may cause you to miss your transfer to the resort.

Private Porters will also be in most airports. These individuals will offer to take your luggage to the bus or take you to your hotel. Be warned they will expect a tip for any service. But once you clear Customs and Immigration an Air Canada Vacations Representative will be waiting for you with an air-conditioned motor coach to take you to your hotel so there is no need for this service.

Transfer For passengers having purchased a complete holiday package, the Air Canada Vacations representative will guide you to your bus or taxi for the transfer to your accommodation. Air only and land only passengers must arrange their own transfers by taxi or bus.

Excursions...How do I book tours or activities?

Please consult the Air Canada Vacations binder or bulletin board located in the lobby of your resort for a listing of all activities and tours available to you at your destination as well as a schedule of when and where you can meet with your Air Canada Vacations destination representative who will be pleased to assist you.

Vaccinations / Registering with Foreign Affairs

What about vaccinations?
Conditions can be very different in other countries. Standards of hygiene may be lower, and food and water supplies may be contaminated. This can leave travelers at higher risks for disease, and can turn your trip into an unpleasant experience - or worse. We strongly recommend making an appointment with your family doctors or with the WRHA Travel Health Clinic. A bit of advance planning will help keep you healthy and your trip worry free.

Contact info:  To contact the WRHA Travel Health Clinic, please call 940-8747 or  http://www.wrha.mb.ca/community/travel/index.php

Register your travel with Foreign Affairs

Foreign affairs offers a registration service for all Canadians traveling abroad. This service is provided so that the government officials can contact you to assist with an emergency in a foreign country, such as a natural disaster or civil unrest, or inform you of a family emergency at home. Please visit http://www.voyage.gc.ca/main/sos/rocapage-en.asp to register.

Travel Insurance - One of the most important decisions

Travel Insurance...Don't leave home without it!

Here is a brief summary of the different travel insurance plans that I suggest. This is only a very brief summary, and you should read the full document as highlighted for the full details.

RBC Deluxe Travel Insurance covers your emergency medical needs; doctor visits, tests, hospitalization, etc. This plan also covers cancellation, interruption and trip delays, flight accident, travel accident, delayed baggage & personal effects and damaged baggage.

RBC Non Medical Travel Insurance covers cancellation, interruption and trip delays, flight accident, travel accident, delayed baggage & personal effects and damaged baggage. There is no medical coverage included.

Anyone over the age of 73 will be required to remit a medical questionnaire prior to booking to ensure the coverage will be permitted by RBC.
All insurance policies will be booked at the time of booking your vacation.

The cost of insurance will be processed at the time of booking.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR SPACE...

I thought I would outline the information on how to book your space and join Jen and Dean at the Barcelo Maya Beach. I would prefer if you would email your requests. Please feel free to call for information, but an email eliminates any issues like spelling mistakes in names, etc... Inside your email I need each person to tell me the following things.

1. Your full name(s) as they appear on your passport.

A copy of your passport should be faxed to my office at 1-877-554-6026.

It is essential that your passport name and your airline ticket name be identical. If you have not yet requested a passport, make sure you tell me exactly the same name that you put on your passport application. If you find later that the name you gave me is not the same as what is listed in your passport, the airline will charge you $200 or more to change the name. If the name is not changed to reflect your passport, you will be denied boarding on travel day!

2. Your full mailing address.

3. Your phone number(s) that you can be reached at.
I have to have a least one phone where you can be reached. I need this for a number of reasons. Should the resort sell out, they have the right to ask for final payment instead of waiting for the final payment date...Should the airlines change the flight times or dates...Should there be any problem with your credit card you gave me for payment...I need to be able to reach you right away!

4. Your email address where I can reach you.
I would like to have your email address so that I can send out blanket emails should any group issue arise. I will then be following up with individual phone calls but I can reach much more of you faster if I have an email address.

5. Your date of birth.
I require your date of birth for my files, and in order to process travel insurance and it is also required by the airlines.

6. Your credit card information.
I will require a valid credit card for the initial deposit, and then again for the final payment. If both payments will be made using the same credit card then I only require the one credit card number. I would like to suggest that you send me all the above information - except the credit card details - via email. I will then telephone you to collect your more person information, like credit card numbers.

Air Canada Vacations requires a non refundable deposit of $250 per person at time of booking to hold the vacation package.

Then, the final balance owing will have to be paid by September 20, 2011 to receive the early booking bonus. You can make your final payment at any time prior, but we will need final payments to be processed by Sept 20, 2011. If final payments are not made in full by Sept 20, 2011, the rates will increase by $250 per person.

After September 20, 2011 rates will be subject to change.

What about passports?

You should have a valid Canadian passport for all trips outside Canada. A passport is the only reliable and universally accepted identification document, and it proves that you have a right to return to Canada. Some countries do not require a passport for entry but do require photographic identification as well as proof of Canadian citizenship. Howevere this varies from country to country. To avoid delays and other problems that will hinder your return to Canada, Canadian citizens are strongly advised to obtain a Canadian Passport prior to initiating international travel and to use their passport at all times for international travel. Passport applications can be done online at http://www.voyage.gc.ca/ or picked up at a Canadian post office.

If you have any questions regarding the Barcelo Maya Beach itself, the pricing of rooms, the travel insurance, or anything else, please send me an email to dreamawaytravel@shaw.ca or call Angela directly at 204-223-9886. I want to make sure that your vacation is exactly what you want and expect. So gather up your information and get those emails coming in...
